Caterpillars for lashes anyone?

I have no idea why, but this creeps me out.

Eyelash transplant surgery wants to become the new must-have procedure for women — and the occasional man — convinced that beauty is not so much in the eye of the beholder as in front of the eye itself.

Using procedures pioneered by the hair loss industry for balding men, surgeons are using “plug and sew” techniques to give women long, sweeping lashes once achieved only by glued on extensions and thick lashings of mascara.

And just like human hair for that is the origin, these lashes just keep on growing.

Seriously, I don’t know why.

Erm, probably because the thought of someone sticking needles into your eye is a fairly disturbing thought?

What’s more disturbing is the amount of people going in for nip/tucks. 10 mill procedures in the US alone? Do so many of us think we were created so badly that we need fixing?

I actually know this girl with tattooed on eyeliner, under her eyes. I hope she never gets to hear about this.

    Yuk cubed.

Sheesh, I read these things, and dismiss them. Then Neha talks about it.

My own eyelashes are perfectly long enough for me to paraphrase the Lake poets and say ‘I wipe my glasses with my long eyelashes’.

Self-improvement by knife and scalpel baffles me. Why? Wherefore? Is self-worth determined by body image? Is intellect weighed on scales and judged by BMI?

I’d rather have my own lashes, thin or thick, long or short. I didn’t know caterpillar eyelashes are the current sexy thing. The mind boggles. Who’d want to kiss an eyelid full of woven hair, dammit?

How funny, I blogged about this, too! 🙂 If I am not mistaken, mascara is the biggest-selling cosmetic product in the west which tells me women like having long, dark, thick eyelashes. Asian women, especially those from the subcontinent, are genetically blessed with thick and dark eyelashes and I guess this is why this particular cosmetic enhancement is not enticing to many of us. Just my 2cents!
