NDTV

Ask Barkha Dutt to shut up someone. Seriously.

I’d rather have a newbie reporter doing things badly, than have BD attempting to create panic, because it suits her style of reporting. It’s like she wants you to not get out, and shake in shock. And for some reason she keeps talking of IC 814 – because she wants to prove that the Congress is not “weak” but doing what the BJP did nine years ago.

She annoys me. And now she is asking us if “this is our 9/11”. And she’s sort of shoving people off the street with one hand, with a certain bossiness. Ugh.

Switch off the tv and calm down. Whenever a city is agitated, the news will capitalize on it. Since you can see this so clearly, don’t watch it.
Easier said than done, I know. For someone far away, watching tv must also be a way to connect, to feel and share the torture.
Try to pray. It will calm you down.

Its our mistake to watch them and give rating. so we get more of the same crap. Media is stupid. Government is horrible.

If only we had better connectivity (internet/broadband) then (like in recently US election) we could generate enough action & momentum on any such issues.

    yet another attack..and?

barkha dutt is behaving in an unethical manner and she surely doesnt realize her responsibility as a journalist. i dont know what exactly is she trying to do by making constant references to strange things like the 9/11 or kandahar which, at this point in time are surely irrelevant. right now, in the midst of journalists like barkha dutt and channels like india TV and aaj tak, the only relief is CNN IBN and rajdeep sardesai who is actually coming in front and talking about media ethichs and crisis management as a media representative. kudos to rajdeep sardesai. i hope barkha helps herself and her brains a bit by following rajdeep’s way and understanding the need of the hour.
in the morning, RR Patil was being interviewed by the press and barkha who was representing NDTV, asks him about what the strategy would be to catch hold of the terrorists. and as if RR PATIL would actually tell her and indirectly inform the terrorists. i mean this is how stupid the face of NDTV can get, well, barkha get a life.

#1 The number of deaths due to causes like dengue and malaria far outweigh all the blasts. As long as people put sensationalism above pragmatism, the blasts will hog the political space.

#2 Where are the Armed Forces ? Reacting as they best can. But remember that even if you have the best trained and equipped forces (we don’t), if you have the best intelligence structure (we don’t), *you cannot prevent such attacks*. You can only improve your reactions to them. cf London Subway or 9/11.

#3 If you thought NDTV was terror porn, you must not miss Times Now following and harassing a shaky, disoriented gent and lady who were coming out of the Trident after more than a day, shoving mikes and cameras into them while asking FUCKING inane questions like How are you, would you like to talk to us etc.

#4 You had Kandhamal, where a suave Patnaik dimissed the public burning of churches and very public rape of a nun with policemen watching as nothing. Did you say they were Indians ? Why are you branding these as Pakistanis ? State support for terror in Pakistan is acknowledged to be dying out. Should we play “our fanatics are better than theirs” games ?

#5 Make no mistake. Unless DEVELOPMENT is on the agenda. Unless JUSTICE for the Modis and the Patnaiks is on the agenda. Unless we stop STUPID beliefs like “Cong soft on terror, BJP isn’t” kinda trash (both are products of the SAME ffing political system). Peace will NEVER happen. Put yourself in the shoes of those who sat through Ahmedabad. Would YOU be part of a peace process with Modi still swaggering around, giving interviews in front of Taj so he can get his while the terror attacks are on ?

#6 Branding Muslims and increasing the alienation (bet riots follow this, led by Shiv Sainkis and Bajrang Dals), pretending there is a military method of PREVENTION … here is some reading.

And with that parting shot he left the carriage and lounged heavily down the platform, a patriot who had never handled a rifle or mounted a horse or pulled an oar, but who had never flinched from demolishing his country’s enemies with his tongue.

“England has never had any lack of patriots of that type,” thought Yeovil sadly; “so many patriots and so little patriotism.”

    Dear Mr. Arnab Goswami,

I would firstly like to applaud your acting skills. Congratulations!!

Why didnt you shun the politicians when similar attacks had happened in Mumbai Local trains , crowded market places and all those places where you and your wife and children never visit. You visit those places ( or probably some of your juniors)only when the blast has happened.

All of sudden there is sudden spasm of patriotism amongst some of the most high profiled Journalists because it is TAJ and OBEROI NOW? Because today you feel that your lives are in danger and you could die a similar death like a common man!Because you family and you rejoice in those hotels, shun these politicians on TV and then party with them in these places!!

What are you doing for society!Isnt Media responsible for all this mess? Why do you show politicians who rake up controversies for publicity? Why you didnt shun them then ? All of a sudden how come you have become responsible?

If you have little conscience then stand up and apologise for your past and then take on the responsibility of saving India and all that patriotism. Dont blame anyone but yourself for the mess.

Shame on you Mr. Goswami for behaving irresponsible and exploiting TV , a very powerful medium which could have been put to a good use.

    Regards
    Shefali

Barkha Dutt is the wrong kind of journalist thinking from the point of every aspect that defines journalism. She knows she is the hyped-up, Kargil-covering, gunshot-defending, oh-my-god-i-am-hearing-a-blast-behind-me-and-will-do-anything-to-get-you-news journalist that the nation loves to watch.

I heard some rumors from insiders that she is not exactly ethical the way journalists should be and would do any thing to ensure competitors don’t get a scoop she is after. I hope she will take up another hobby and quit NDTV so i can start watching that channel again.

Barkha Datt is just one example. Switch to any news channel, and it seems like a circus with the anchors hopping off their seat with their attempts at using obnoxious but irrelevant and exaggerated expressions.

The news channels really are acting like secondary support to the terrorists. They spread the terror more than the terrorists themselves. This has got to stop.

Incidentally i also wrote a post on this topic over at my blog
